Your First NUAD Thai Massage: What to Expect
Your first NUAD Thai session, from getting changed to assisted stretches and choosing a comfortable level of pressure.

Interested in traditional Thai massage but not sure what the first appointment will be like? This guide explains the experience clearly, so you can arrive feeling comfortable and prepared.
NUAD Thai combines traditional Thai techniques with rhythmic pressure and assisted stretching. In our salon, it also includes deep tissue techniques and is performed without oil, over comfortable clothing we provide.
How is NUAD Thai different?
NUAD Thai feels different from many oil massages because of the way the treatment is performed:
- No oil or lotion. The treatment is performed over clothing.
- Assisted movement and stretching. Your therapist carefully guides your body through supported positions while applying rhythmic pressure.
Before you arrive
A little preparation can make your first appointment even more comfortable:
- Clothing: we provide clean, comfortable clothes for the massage. Come in whatever you like.
- Food: avoid a large meal for about an hour before your appointment.
- Tell us what matters: let your therapist know about injuries, recent surgery, pregnancy, ongoing health conditions or sensitive areas so the session can be adapted appropriately.
Please note: massage is not a substitute for medical care. If you are unsure whether massage is appropriate for you, speak with a qualified healthcare professional before booking.
During the treatment: should it hurt?
NUAD Thai should not feel sharply or unbearably painful. Deeper pressure and stretching can feel intense, but the session should remain within a level that feels manageable and safe for you.
Your comfort is the priority. Tell your therapist at any time if you would like lighter pressure, a gentler stretch, a shorter hold or a different position.
After your massage
Many guests leave feeling relaxed and more comfortable in their movement, although everyone responds differently. Temporary tenderness can occur after deeper pressure or stretching, especially if the treatment is new to you.
A simple aftercare plan: take the rest of the day at a comfortable pace, drink water as you normally would and pay attention to how your body feels.
